Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World card packs part 2

Opening the second mega pack in the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World box gave two cards that were in the first pack opened, Solar Flare Dragon and Dark Grepher.

It also produced the following cards, all of which have appeared in previous sets:

One trap card, Spellbinding Circle.  This remains a favorite card for almost any deck, as it is a great way to render your opponent’s strong monsters virtually useless.

Spellbinding Circle

One spell card, Harpie’s Feather Duster.  This has been printed in a beautiful ultimate edition.

Harpie's Feather Duster

One normal monster, and what a great one to get!  Mystical Elf wields an amazing 2000 defense and is a level 4 monster.

Setting this monster often costs your opponent life points when they attack!

Four effect monsters were also in this pack.  Mirage Knight and King of the Swamp appear in common editions:

Toon Summoned Skull appears as a rare:

The Seal of Orichalcos

This beautiful foil image with gold text card is included in the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World box:

The Seal of Orichalcos

You’ll want to take care in how you use this card, as you can only activate it once per Duel.  It can also be a bit tricky to work a deck around it.

While this card will make using your extra deck tough, you can engineer a deck to take advantage of some of it’s unique effects.  For instance, if you have two or more normal summoned monsters in face-up ATK position on the field with the same ATK, none of them can be attacked!  Use this effect with monsters that can attack your opponent directly – you’ll do 500 more damage with every monster you can use this way!

Use this card with Spirit Barrier to stop your opponent’s damage to you – Orichalcos protects your monsters, and while you have a monster on the field, Spirit Barrier protects you from damage!

Spirit Barrier

Drawback to using Orichalcos is that it won’t work well in decks that depend on their Extra Deck or that rely heavily on special summoned monsters.

There are many ways to use The Seal of Orichalcos, and many types of decks to which it would make a great addition.  Feel free to leave comments about how you would use The Seal of Orichalcos in a deck!

Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World card packs

This post is going to let you take a look at the kinds of cards you might get from the mega packs in the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World box.

The first pack contained 7 effect monsters, 1 normal monster, and 1 spell card.

Lets take a look at the normal monster, Mechanicalchaser:

Mechanicalchaser

This high ATK level 4 monster has been around for a long time, but this is certainly one of it’s prettiest incarnations.  The card features a foil image and gold text.

The spell card was Soul Taker, and it makes a great combo with Asleep at the Switch:

The seven effect monsters are shown next.

Dark Grepher:

Dark Horus:

Solar Flare Dragon, The Earth – Hex-Sealed Fusion, and The Tricky make a reappearance in this set.  Solar Flare Dragon has a foil image.

Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World Token cards

The Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World package contained three token cards.  The first two feature the adorable yet ferocious Kuriboh:

Token - Kuriboh

Token - Kuriboh 2The third one features an image of Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness:

Token - Emissary of DarknessAll three are beautiful foil images with gold text.

Token cards cannot be in a deck, but are used when a card effect summons a token or tokens to the field.  One example of such a card is Stray Lambs:

Stray Lambs

You could use these token cards in place of the “Lamb Tokens” that Stray Lambs summons.

Keep watching as the rest of the Legendary Collection 3 box is reviewed!

Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World, Part 2

When I got this, I thought it was pretty cool.  After I opened it, I thought it was really really cool!  Read on to find out why!

The Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World package has a lot inside it.

There’s the three all new awesome Token cards:

There are 2 versions of Kuriboh, and one featuring the Emissary of Darkness.  All are beautiful foil cards with gold name text.

Then there’s the three “ultra rare monsters used by some of Yugi’s most fearsome foes”.

Dark Necrofear:

Guardian Eatos:

Five-Headed Dragon:

There are five packs of Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World cards, with 9 cards per pack:

And the last card promised on the packaging description:

The Seal of Orichalcos:

The Seal of Orichalcos

In addition to all these cool items, the box itself is pretty spiffy!  It has a front snap-together display area, so you can easily and safely store any special card you want to show off!

So, taking out the plastic tray all these items are carefully packaged in, we see that there is plenty of room for…

…wait, what’s that?

Wow!  Not a mention on the box about this totally ultra cool hard board deck mat!!!  Take a look at this!

Legendary Collection 3 game mat front

Legendary Collection 3 game mat back

This hard board mat folds up in 4 parts to neatly fit inside the box and still leaves plenty of room to store your decks, tokens, dice, calculator, and any other goodies you want to have with you!

So without even opening the packs yet, this box has turned out to be totally cool!

I think it’s well worth what I paid, but I found an online link where you can get it for even less:

Even with shipping, this works out a bit cheaper than I got it for.  Of course, if you’re impatient (like me!), you can look for this at your local Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

In the next post, we’ll take a look at what’s inside the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi’s World card packs.

Return of the Duelist Special Edition pack review

This package turned out to have some great cards in it.  The super rare variant card in this pack turned out to be Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction.

Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction

The other possible super rare variant you could get in this pack is T.G. Hyper Librarian:

T.G. Hyper Librarian

As it turned out, Number 30 was a great card to get, because one of the packs also contained Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon

Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon

(The card has gold print which for some reason just wouldn’t show up well in the scans I made.)

XYZ Soul made a nice addition to the XYZ monsters in this set:

XYZ Soul

There are new monster sets, notably the “Chronomaly” monsters, “of Prophecy” monsters, “Heroic Challeger” monsters, and “Madolche” monsters.

There is also a wide variety of new monsters of all types, and while they may not be in sets, they certainly have potential to work together!

Watch for upcoming posts to help you use and combo the new cards from the Return of the Duelist set.

Night Assailant combo

Here’s a fun way to use Night Assailant:

Night Assailant

First, use Night Assailant’s flip effect to destroy one of your opponent’s monsters.

Then, tribute Night Assailant to tribute set Nobleman-Eater Bug.

Nobleman-Eater Bug

Next, use Dark Eruption to get Night Assailant out of the graveyard and back into your hand.

Dark Eruption

Then use Double Summon to get an extra summon for this turn.  Summon and set Night Assailant.

Double Summon

Now you’re ready for your opponent – if they attack either card, you can destroy a monster (or two!).  If they don’t, you have the potential to take out 3 of their monsters on your next turn!

Gandora the Dragon of Destruction: Part 4

Here’s an incredibly powerful combo using Gandora:

Gandora the Dragon of Destruction

Before you pull Gandora out of your arsenal, summon Gaia Drake the Universal Force.

Gaia Drake the Universal Force

Gaia Drake has a fierce 3500 ATK, and best of all, it won’t be destroyed by Gandora’s effect.

Then use one of the methods described in the post Gandora the Dragon of Destruction: Part 1 to summon Gandora to the field.

If you use Gilasaurus, you can force your opponent to bring out another monster  – which you can then use to power up Gandora!

Gilasaurus

Tips in Gandora the Dragon of Destruction: Part 2 will help you activate Gandora without having to pay half your life points for it.

Use Gandora’s effect, then use Gaia Drake and Gandora in your second main phase to summon Maju Garzett:

Maju Garzett

You should now have a super powerful Maju Garzett on your field!

There’s one more card you can use to leave yourself with great field advantage before your opponent’s turn:

Twin Headed Behemoth

Twin-Headed Behemoth will not only help power up Gandora when Gandora’s effect is used, you can special summon it back to the field during your end phase.  This gives you two monsters – and leaves your opponent with none!

(You should check this tip with your local Official Duel Rulings to make sure you can activate Twin-Headed Behemoth’s effect under these circumstances.  If not, you could use Twin-Headed Behemoth to help summon Gandora, in which case Twin-Headed Behemoth’s effect would activate from the graveyard.)

There are still many more ways for you to combo Gandora.  Take a look at your cards and see what cool combos you can make!
